During the journey, we will combine short walks on foot with stops at different strategic points, to observe the different species that can be seen within the predominantly mountainous ecosystem.

THE SERRA DE TRAMUNTANA IS A PARADISE FOR BIRDS OF PREY

The natural area of the Serra de Tramuntana, enjoys wildlife protection in many of its extensive areas (ZEPA) by the European network NATURA 2000. In this wild and rugged stronghold with impressive limestone rock walls and deep karst canyons, is where you can find the habitat of many of the Mallorcan birds of prey.

THE DIVERSITY OF BIRDS IS SURPRISING

85 of the 99 nesting species on the island live in the mountains. Bird watching in the central Serra de Tramuntana is undoubtedly an excellent option for nature lovers, since on the same day, you can be fortunate enough to see different birds of prey such as the majestic black vulture (Aegypius monachus ), the Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus), the griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus), the Bonelli’s eagle (Aquila fasciata), the osprey (Pandion haliaetus), the booted eagle (Hieraetus pennatus), the peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus), the Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) or Eleonora’s Falcon (Falco eleonorae). These great sightings will be complemented by the countless small and medium-sized birds, characteristic of the different ecosystems that we find in the mountains, not to mention the migratory birds, some of them true rarities, that can visit us during the passing season.
